My Entrepreneurship Story

Throughout my life, I have been exposed to the world of entrepreneurship. Since before I could remember, my mother and her new and creative ideas were a large part of my life. Though she never made her ideas into a business, she sure does implement a sense of entrepreneurship into everything she does, whether she notices it or not. Her determination to always be the best has driven the entrepreneurial view she has on life and has therefore, influenced me to think as she does. In addition, her father, my grandfather, has had a large impact on my entrepreneurship story as he created his own business advisory firm. Though he started his family at a young age, he worked hard to provide for them and eventually started his own business. I am inspired by his passion for his business and his determination to make something happen. His wisdom and inspiration will always have a lasting effect on me and my future. Last, my entrepreneurship story continues with myself. In high school, I had the opportunity to be the founder of a spirit club, called Phoenix Fire. Because my high school was relatively small, there was also relatively little spirit and I found this a problem. Luckily, I had a vision, along with a few others, and one of my teachers agreed to sponsor it. The club took off in my small high school and increased spirit for our several spirit for our several sports teams and led to a greater sense of community within my school. While I have not been entirely surrounded by the stereotypical “own your own business” type of entrepreneurship, I have been surrounded by the philosophy of entrepreneurship and the mindset of entrepreneurs.

  1. Haley, it is pretty awesome that you have such close relationships with your family's entrepreneurial spirit. Some of our most profound inspirations and mentors in life come from our family. I am excited to hear more about your journey and how you develop your own entrepreneurial philosophy and mindset. That is also my goal in this class as well. Just a quick thought. Next time you make a post maybe trying to break it up into smaller paragraphs instead of one block of text. It would make it a little friendlier to read. Other than that I really enjoyed hearing your story.

  2. Haley your entrepreneurial journey was very inspiring. Your mom really does have an entrepreneurial spirit that she has passed on to you. The fact that you have your family with you on this path is very remindful of my family. I am excited to be a part of this journey with you and I hope that we are able to help each other out this semester.
